About Me

My name is Paige Finney, and I am a Freshman Communications Major at Furman University. I am  from Wingate, NC, a small town that lies 30 minutes outside of Charlotte.  I grew up playing almost every sport you can think of: volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, and yes even football (flag football of course). Sports have always been a major part of my life, but in college I decided to focus my time on academics instead of pursuing athletics at the higher level. In the future, I hope to work with sports again. My dream job would be working in the communications department for a professional sports team like the Carolina Panthers or Charlotte Hornets.

Like most teenage girls I have struggled with my weight and self-esteem. Society constantly whispers in my ear, “You’re not skinny enough. You’re not pretty enough, You’re not good enough.” Due to this I have tried multiple fad diets in order to, as all the advertisements say, “lose ten pounds in one week.” However, they never seemed to work. These fad diets only caused more problems for me as I was on a constant cycle of diet after diet, each one lasting less than a week.

I am writing this blog to speak to the girls and boys who have society whispering the same things in their ears. Fad diets are not the answer to solving your problems. Read my blog to find out why.
